Policies


Who can stay on campus?

From May to the end of August, The University of Western Ontario offers accommodations to conference delegates, students and visitors to London. Whether you are visiting or coming for a conference, you are always welcome to stay with us.

Do you offer smoking rooms?

No. The University of Western Ontario is a non-smoking environment. This includes all University owned property including residences.

Where can I obtain a campus map and/or information on what services are available at the University?

You can obtain a campus map and other information from the Front Desk or online at http://www.geography.uwo.ca/campusmaps

Is there parking on campus?

If you are attending a conference, ample parking is available in designated lots as specified by your Conference organizer. Parking for our Bed & Breakfast guests is available in the Medway parking lot, behind Elgin Hall, on a coin-entry basis.If you are staying for an extended period, you can purchase a parking pass from Parking Services, located in Room 4150, Support Services Building open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Please inquire at the Front Desk.

Please do not park in posted fire route areas as this is a violation that carries a fine of $100.00.

How far are you from downtown London?

Downtown London is about a 10 - 15 minute drive from the University. Bus service is available on a regular basis.

Are there any bank machines on campus?

For your convenience, bank machines are located in the lower level of the University Community Centre as well as other locations across campus including the UCC Centre Spot Food Court. There is also a TD Canada Trust located on Richmond Street, at the University main gates.

Can I send/receive a fax while I am here?

Certainly, at the Front Desk, for a small fee.

Can I mail a letter while I am here?

Certainly, just drop your letter in the appropriate Canada Post box by the Front Desk, or visit the Canada Post Office in the University Community Centre.

Is there a computer I can access during my stay?

There are mini computer labs in each residence for all guests to use. If you wish to bring your own laptop or PC, arrangements can be made in advance to set up an account. For further information, please click here.

Should I bring an alarm clock?

Yes, we cannot guarantee wake up calls.

Are there laundry facilities?

Yes, there are card-activated laundry facilities. Pre-paid cards are available at the Front Desk - refundable deposit required. Irons and ironing boards are also available through the Front Desk.

Where can I borrow an iron, get some clean towels/fresh linens etc.?

These items can either be signed out (iron) or exchanged (towels/linens) at the Front Desk.

Where can I eat on campus?

A variety of convenient dining options are available to you on campus. Further details are available at the Front Desk or visit www.has.uwo.ca/hospitality/eateries.

What kind of recreation activities are there on campus?

Western has an incredible selection of recreational services available ... swimming, squash and racquetball courts, outdoor tennis courts (some with lights), fitness rooms, weight training and gyms. Recreation passes can be purchased from Membership Services, in the Western Student Recreation Centre, ((519) 661-3090).

What if I have a medical problem or an emergency?

Should an emergency situation occur, please contact the Front Desk staff immediately as they have been trained to take the appropriate action. Full medical services are available at University Hospital, located on the campus of UWO. The main number is (519) 685-8500 and (519) 663-3197 for the Emergency Department.

What if I lose or misplace something, what do I do?

Any articles found within our facility, will be held at the "Lost and Found" located at the Front Desk. Items found elsewhere on campus are held at the main "Lost and Found" located at the offices of the University Police (Stevenson-Lawson Building). Conference Services is not responsible for any missing or damaged personal property items.

Sorry ... no pets please. Seeing eye dogs are permitted.

What is there to do in London?

London is a city brimming with activity. You can always find something to do in the Forest City.
